The «Flower of the Most High» world’s first eco-mosque Yryskeldi-kazhy was included in the shortlist of the most prestigious world Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for architecture of Muslim Institutions.
A list of more than 200 mosques representing forty countries on four continents was prepared for the first jury meeting held in late January in Paris (France). As a result, 27 were chosen — the most modern and innovative. The «Flower of the Most High» took the 6th position in the pre-final list. Now the facilities are waiting for the final vote. The jury will choose the best Jami, Central and Local Mosques. A special nomination is for innovations and ideas.
Let us recall, the «Flower of the Most High», the first mosque in the world with zero energy consumption, was built by Kazakhstan company «Stroyinvest-SK» for 18 months; its opening took place in May 2018. The energy balance is achieved for 1 year due to the application of modern engineering solutions on the site. Thus, thermal energy consumption is reduced by 61%; electrical energy consumption for ventilation and cooling — by 80-87%. The volume of generated electricity obtained as a result of engineering solutions exceeds the need of the facility by almost 4 times, which allows to provide excess electricity for sale and payment of utility charges.
Abdullatif Al Fozan Award was established in 2011 and is a three-year award. The main purpose of this award is to develop modern architecture of mosques that combines traditional character and innovative concepts. The prize is awarded every three years in cooperation with the International Union of Architects.
